Research Experience

Theoretical Particle Astrophysics

Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics, Chicago, IL

• Parity Symmetric Standard Model:
  Exploring high-energy extensions to the standard model and their implications on symmetry breaking in the early universe after inflation.
• Dark Matter Phenomenology:
  Investigating astrophysical signals derived from a minimal heavy sterile neutrino dark matter theory.
• Cosmic-Ray Astrophysics:
  Studied the scenario where the gamma-ray excess observed by the LHASSO collaboration is produced by “TeV Halos” around pulsars in the Milky Way.

Experimental Particle Astrophysics

Vieregg Lab, University of Chicago, Chicago, IL

• Payload for Ultrahigh Energy Observables (PUEO):
  • Tested radio antennas for a NASA balloon mission to measure ultra-high energy neutrinos.
  • Developed a muon detection system for radio-based high-energy neutrino searches.
  • Assembled an integrated electronics system and designed the mechanical support structure.

Undergraduate Senior Honors Thesis

UNC Experimental Nuclear and Astroparticle Physics, Chapel Hill, NC
May 2019 – May 2022

• Conducted an experimental study on pulse shape discrimination capabilities of a novel high-purity germanium ring-contact detector, aimed at neutrinoless double beta decay.
• Assembled a prototype cryostat and simulated detector events.
• Authored and defended a thesis for the highest honors degree designation.
